Challenge
Inefficient manual testing.
Before implementing BugBug, the small QA team at ILO Applications had to test apps and websites manually, covering many test cases across multiple projects. They were often unable to detect small bugs because those defects looked like proper code during manual testing.
Besides being inefficient and defective, manual testing took a lot of time and effort — leaving the team with limited capacity to expand test coverage as the product grew.
- Many test cases to cover manually
- Small bugs slipping past manual checks
- High time and effort cost per release
- Limited capacity to scale QA across projects
ILO Applications needed an approach that would catch subtle defects earlier and free their QA team from repetitive manual work.
"BugBug saved us 2-3 hours after each deployment. We were surprised how easy it is to add custom logic to each test. Even though the features provided cover 80% of our use cases, when we needed to execute custom logic around them — it's super easy."
Solution
Replacing manual testing with robust test automation.
As a way of saving the QA team's time and effort, ILO Applications looked for a solution that would replace the manual testing process with easy-to-implement test automation. BugBug was a perfect fit — it delivers a simple way to create test cases where the user can execute the same tasks as during manual testing, but faster and more effectively.
The QA team records the most important functions and adds them to a suite. That suite is then run automatically after each deployment, with Slack notifications sent whenever a test fails so QA can immediately check whether the failure is a valid error.
The ease of adding custom logic to each test and reliable recording are the most appreciated qualities of BugBug. Its features cover roughly 80% of the team's use cases, while custom logic handles the rest with minimal effort.
- Recorded test suites covering the most important app functions
- Automatic test runs triggered after every deployment
- Slack alerts on failed tests for instant response
- Custom JavaScript steps for advanced scenarios
- Reliable recording with minimal maintenance
BugBug allowed the QA tester to deploy with more confidence thanks to the automatic trigger that runs after each deployment.
Results
BugBug allowed us to deploy with more confidence.
BugBug improved the team's testing time, allowing them to deploy more confidently to production. They replaced manual work with ease — and, most importantly, were able to catch bugs earlier in the pipeline.
By automating regression checks around every deployment, the team eliminated the testing bottleneck that previously slowed down releases.
BugBug has increased the productivity of the whole team and made quality a shared, predictable part of the release process.
